Terry Kennedy opens new store and launches TK Society

Known in the pro-skateboarding community as the "Jordan of Skateboarding", Terry Kennedy launched a new store and sneaker line to rave reviews last week. According to Bossip, "the line of fans, skaters, and kids for the shoe launch and store opening was up the block and down the street".

Opening in Long Beach, District-8 is Kennedy's first skate shop. In addition to his venture into the retail world, Kennedy has also teamed up with Supra shoe to launch the TK Society sneaker collection.

The skateboarding phenom has accomplished more in his short 24 years on earth than most people do in a lifetime. Bossip is right in saying that "for minority parents whose kids are into skating, Terry’s a great role model and the ideal person for them to emulate".

This evening, I attended a panel of discussion featuring Beverley Jacobs, President of the Native Women's Association of Canada, Ellen Gabriel, President of Quebec Native Women, as well as women from families directly affected by the disappearance or murder of a mother, sister or daughter, including Laurie Odjick, Bridget Tolley, and Sue Martin, from Kitigan Zibi.

The aim of such events is:

To stimulate a broader understanding of and discussion about the reasons behind racialized violence that continues to occur both locally here in Montreal and in the rest of Canada. The general lack of information or proper coverage, as well as an absence of police investigations of missing and murdered First Nations women over the last three decades alone will also be explored as a brutal form of violence in itself, and raised as a cause for concern

SINCE SEPTEMBER, 4 FIRST NATIONS WOMEN HAVE GONE MISSING IN MONTREAL-AMONGST THOSE MISSING IS A 14 YR OLD INUIT GIRL WHO WAS ABDUCTED FROM A SCHOOLYARD IN MONTREAL.

Because Montreal is a city known for its fashion-forward style, I decided to hit the city's streets and ask its fellow citizens: What influences your urban style? With my camera in hand, I stopped random strangers and posed each one questions about their personal style and influences.

Each interviewee greeted me with a welcoming smile and an openness to answering any question I was willing to ask. Indeed, fashion is a universal language.

I was drawn to every interviewee because they each had a unique, urban and street element to their style. Each person interviewed embodied the true essence of hip-hop fashion.

As of late, every pic of artist/producer Kanye West features his arm candy, Amber Rose, by his side. The couples quirky, unique and retro style has everyone talking. Infamous blogger Perez Hilton calls Miss Rose a "fantastic addition to K-West self-proclaimed life of art". Call her what you will, but the hip-hop community has a name for chicks like Amber Rose: Gold-Digger.

Please, this relationship has REBOUND written all over it. Prior to his involvement with Rose, Kanye was engaged to his longtime love, Alexis Phifer. Although the couple broke off their engagement, Alexis and West have a habit of breaking and making up.

Leaving the suspicious details of their pairing aside, the "Love Lock Down" singer and his bald new love interest make an aesthetically pleasing couple...wouldn't you agree?

Seems like luxury label Louis Vuitton had a changed of heart. The french label has teamed up with artist/designer Stephen Sprouse to create the new LV Sprouse Collection.

Sprouse is a popular artist and designer who is known for his graffiti style print fashions. The LV pink & purple neon graffiti monographic print t-shirts and headbands are retailing at a cool 250$.

250$, not too pricey for LV swag. Then again, probably cost the fashion house only 20 cents to make both T-shirt & headband...sorry, make that 10 cents.
